RESTORATION OF SAN MARTINO AND BERNARDINO CHURCH IN PORZA

The restructuring intervention concerns the external facades of the church and its churchyard which are degraded and in poor condition. It was a question of replacing all the external plasters with mineral plasters, with better technical characteristics and with colors that respect the local tradition. Work was carried out to remove and replace the sheet metal, added where it did not exist. Furthermore, a rearrangement work was carried out in the churchyard, consisting of the complete rearrangement of the existing porphyry pavement, the removal of the blocks, the restoration of the underlying layers and the subsequent re-use of the blocks previously removed; the flooring is renewed using Iragna slabs (local stone already present along the access path to the church); five new olive trees were planted which, together with the five already present, were positioned according to the new design of the churchyard; moreover, the new intervention was enhanced by the use of a lighting system which guarantees excellent visibility of all the facades and the bell tower; the cemetery column placed at the entrance to the churchyard was carefully restored and the small altars placed on the façade were removed pending a new location still to be defined; the entrance doors of the church and the bell tower have undergone a conservative restoration aimed at restoring these elements to their original state and the fixtures have been replaced; the bell tower was equipped with three clocks placed on the three still free facades; eight rectangular benches equipped with a lighting pole have been positioned.
